An elevated location at the top of a field, on the site of an old farm building, with views to the North East over the Moray Firth, was where our clients chose to build their dream home.  The brief allowed for a master bedroom with en-suite, utility, kitchen/ dining, living room, conservatory and porch on the ground floor and two bedrooms with bathroom on the first floor.  The clients were keen that all the external finishes be relatively low maintenance and requested underfloor heating be installed on the ground floor fed indirectly by a solid fuel back boiler supplemented by a solar panel and electric boiler.  The clients appreciated the double height living room with its simple clean lines.  Externally the apperance of the natural slate, timber cladding and roughcast had to meet the approval of SNH, to comply with a planning condition.
