Policy changes requiring improved standards and centralisation of Custody Facilities as well as increased demand created the need for an additional cell block at Police Operations HQ, Inverness.

The proposed custody block extension was located on a tight site within the existing secure yard.  A detailed knowledge of 'The Police Building Design Guide' and the very particular requirements of Northern Constabulary were essential to achieve a facility that would meet the criteria for a 21st Century custody building.
