Our clients,  the Moray Council, had purchased this recently closed home for the elderly with a view to upgrading it to provide residential accommodation for adults with learning difficulties.  Although the 6  bedrooms to be used already had en-suite facilities, some of these required improvement and a wetfloor bathroom/ accessible toilet was formed on the ground floor.  The specialised use of the building required particular attention to be paid to the security of both the staff and the residents, with high-tech solutions to personnel alarms and entry and exit to and from the building.  Items and finishes employed had to be particularly robust.  Mechanical and electrical services were upgraded, a sprinkler system was installed, and a new access ramp provided to the entrance door.
