Mercat Centre, Milton of Kildary:

We worked with KALE Action & development Group to establish a suitable, much needed Community Building in Milton of Kildary.
The new Centre incorporates a hall, large kitchen with servery, offices, Thrift Shop, Meeting room/ Clinic, Library and seating area, toilets, Workshop/ garage, Garden equipment store and enclosed Nursery with small kitchen, children’s toilets and private play area. The large games hall and other school facilities are accessible from the new Community building.
Energy source for heating was via Ground source heat pumps from 4 No 200 metre deep Bore Holes. Solar panels were incorporated for heating the water, and a meter panel with display was included to allow the Community members to ‘see’ the real cost of the heating with savings shown against equivalent fossil fuels.
