Award: Outer Hebrides Design Award Commendation 2012

Description: Refurbishment and Extensions to the Existing Police Station.

The brief was to create the maximum possible increase in office and storage accommodation, on a very tight town centre site, while retaining access to an existing yard/car park area. The renovation of the existing offices, reception area and custody facility was also part of the project.
Existing outbuildings were demolished and new extensions built incorporating a first floor accommodation ‘link bridge’ between new and existing buildings. The upgraded accommodation plus new CID offices, stores and Conference suite enhanced the existing facilitiues to provide a modern fit for purpose Police HQ for the Western Isles.
