Our client, Northern Constabulary, with whom we have a term contract for the provision of architectural services, instructed that we design an extension to the existing Police Station.  Existing outbuildings were demolished to make way for the main part of the new extension and, in order to maintain access and parking within the site, first floor accommodation formed a 'bridge link' between the new and existing Police Station.  In addition, a first floor extension was constructed over the single storey boiler room.  We consider that an elegant solution was achieved to provide the much needed additional facilities on a very restricted site.
Alteration and refurbishment works were also carried out within the existing building to enable it to better serve a modern policing methodology.
